Everybody knows their tier 1. It is from there on that it turns into memory. Trama builds the chain from the documents you already have and the declarations your suppliers make, derives the tiers from the declared relationships, and tells you where what you actually know ends — so you also know what to ask for.

The tier is a result, not a label

Tier 2 is the distance from the finished garment, computed from the declared links. Change a link and the tier changes with it.
